The MHF’s Community Engagement and Health Promotion Team is looking for an experienced grants advisor or administrator to lead the co-ordination and delivery of the Nōku te Ao: Like Minds Social Action Grants programme.
Nōku te Ao: Like Minds is a national programme aiming to end prejudice and discrimination against the 47% of New Zealanders who will experience mental distress or illness in their lifetime. As the lead of the Social Action Grants component of that programme, you will be responsible for increasing the grants’ engagement and reach into communities across Aotearoa, collaboratively promoting the grants through both kanohi-ki-te-kanohi and digital channels alongside a Communications and Marketing Lead.
Seeing the end-to-end grants process through, you’ll use your relationship and project management skills to foster and procure the creation of outstanding grants applications, while staying connected to grant recipients and, ensuring their projects remain on track.
Balancing your time between assessing spreadsheets and engaging with Māori, Pasifika, Asian, rainbow and lived experience communities and their intersections, you’ll build and maintain community networks and identify differing needs across them to help end mental distress discrimination in Aotearoa.
If you have grants experience, have worked in health promotion or mental health and want to be a part of this inspiring programme, this is the role for you.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- 2-3 years’ experience working in a grants advisor or grants administrator role
- An understanding of mental health (including positive mental health) and the mental health sector
- Knowledge of the communities most impacted by mental distress and illness
- An ability to work with a diverse range of people and cultures
- Skills in project and budget management
- An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its practical application
- An existing knowledge of, and willingness to grow and extend your knowledge of, te ao Māori and te reo Māori.
