Virginia Brooks

Virginia coordinates the MHF Suicide Bereavement Service and is fuelled by her passion for peer support and postvention.

She is bereaved by suicide and helps develops suicide prevention and bereavement resources for MHF. She chairs the suicide bereavement service Advisory Group and helps run Solace, a suicide bereavement peer support group in Auckland.

She has a Masters degree in Anthropology from the University of Auckland, along with a postgrad degree in teaching and an almost completed degree in guidance counselling.

Her hunger for knowledge and determination to turn information into action puts all this learning to good use on a regular basis.

In between study and work Virginia’s backpacked around the world. Right now her favourite place to explore is Aotearoa.
