Managing manawa pā / triggered thoughts and emotions at Levels 3 and 4

Returning to alert Level 4 can feel frustrating and sudden for most of us. Managing this sudden change and uncertainty can trigger new and old distressing thoughts or manawa pā and trauma, and remind us of situations, including times in past alert levels, where we’ve felt trapped, helpless or afraid. Managing these thoughts and emotions can be really hard. To help, we’ve asked a registered psychologist and tangata/people who’ve been through traumatic experiences in the past to give us some quick tips on how they would manage, and are managing, the big emotions that many of us are feeling right now.
